Meet the team
Jayna has worked in industrial R&D and technical business development for more than 30 years, and was co-founder and CTO of Terepac Corporation.
Previously she was with thin-film solar startup Nanosolar during its formative years, as the VP of Manufacturing Technology and Associate CTO, and was co-founder and initially CTO of Intelleflex (an RFID startup). She spent nearly twenty years with Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in research on microlithography, superconductivity, and organic electroluminescence, as well as founding HP's World e-Inclusion program for profitable, environmentally and socially sustainable businesses in the developing world.
She has authored or co-authored 60 journal articles and over 50 patents, and has been a guest editor and conference organizer on several occasions. Jayna is a fellow of the AAAS, and holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Stanford University and BS degrees in Chemistry and Physical Sciences from Colorado State University.
Werner has more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing management, including the position of Director of Worldwide Operations for Hitachi Global Storage.
In a series of management positions in both semiconductor and hard disk operations over a seventeen year period at IBM, he led teams which at each location produced several-fold improvements in yield, cycle time and throughput: at the end of this time he led the integration of IBM and Hitachi disk drive manufacturing organizations. He was the COO of Scivac/Optcom, overseeing a reduction in build time of fabrication equipment for the optical communications industry from 3 months to 3 weeks, and improving yield and throughput ten-fold.
Under his leadership as the EVP of Operations for Nanosolar, Inc., a completely new thin film solar technology was taken from laboratory scale to a high volume roll-to-roll manufacturing plant, and a high volume and highly automated module fabrication plant was commissioned in Germany. Werner holds an MS from Fresenius Wiesbaden and an MBA from the Universität der Wirtshaft, Cologne.
Chris has been in business development for nearly 30 years after beginning his career as an electronic engineer.
For the last 13 years he has been a consultant with clients in semiconductors, telecommunications, wireless, and RFID as well as biotechnology and IT, handling all pre-sales aspects of accounts, new business bids and customer service requests. For each of these clients he has developed many millions of dollars of new business in a short time, multiplying market value manyfold.
Prior to that, he was General Manager for Sales at Innovision; and held a series of sales and business development management positions at Radisys-Swindon, IBM, Cypress Semiconductor and National Semiconductor. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Hertfordshire, a BA from the University of Bristol and an MBA from the University of Bath.
CEO, EVP Operations, VP Business Development, and Special Advisor for Technology Applications. A technologist, strategist, and entrepreneur with ~30 years of experience in semiconductors, systems & software.
Among other positions, he was recently CTO of the Memory Division of Cypress (CY) and Member of Board of Directors of JEDEC. Prior to CY, he held senior technical positions at Silicon Light Machines, Synopsys, and several startups (two acquired by Mentor Graphics and Cadence).
He has been awarded 50 US patents in software, optical communication and ICs for networking, handsets, SRAMs & MEMs. He has authored invited papers for ISSCC and CICC. He is also a Member of Advisory Board of Zeno Semiconductor, Kandou Bus and Deca Technologies, among others, and a Partner at Silicon Catalyst.
